Our Story
Behind the Scenes
For a very long time Hasty's Haven's founder, Joann, has been driven to save the horses that everyone has given up on, trying to turn their life around by giving them a new start. This began while volunteering for another rescue for many years. During that time she developed a passion for helping these horses. Many have come in and then were adopted out. She saw the need to take these animals in and give them a second chance at a happy life. Establishing the Hasty's Haven Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit in 2020, along with her daughter, Kaitlyn, was the realization of her vision of creating a much-needed haven to offer these horses in need.
Today Hasty's Haven providing save haven for the mistreated, unwanted and simply misunderstood horses. Hasty's Haven is a small rescue compared to some of the others out there but we have plans to grow in an effort to care for the vast number of animals that need help. Currently about 10-20 nurse mare foals have come through our farm and we hope to be able to care for more each year as we expand. We have dedicated volunteers and veterinarians who help us in our endeavor.
There are several permanent residents of Hasty's Haven including Hasty Red himself. Along with Dirty, an off track thoroughbred and a grumpy ol' mare named Luna, we have Eli who came through with last years Nurse Mare Foals and he decided to stay. This year we also took in a Pony named Turkey and two minis named Hyacinth and Sunflower who lost their home due to unfortunate circumstances. We have provided them with a haven to live out their lives.
We are 100% donor funded and have a small staff of volunteers that help out during foal season. Having knowledgeable volunteers, trainers and veterinarians is is essential to our success given the level of critical care that we provide at Hasty's Haven.
